Steve Grogan is a wedding photographer from Manchester (to his website) who won several awards in his career: In 2023, he was the overall winner at the Event Photographer Awards in London. However, Steve’s life has changed this year though as he found a tool that brought his workflow to another level.
Steve, you seem quite busy. Can you give us an insight into your daily business?
I’m based here in the UK, but I do shootings worldwide. So, traveling can take some time. I photograph approximately 30 to 35 weddings a year, so especially during the season, things can get a bit hectic. I often feel like I’m drowning in work with editing thousands and thousands of images. That’s why efficiency is key for me. It’s all about timesaving.
Sounds like image editing is the most exhausting part of your job.
The postproduction part of being a photographer has always been very labour intensive. Editing around 25,000 images throughout the year is a lot of work but I’ve always taken great pride in my post-production work. I’ve never been the type to just apply a pre-set then move on. For me it’s super important to ensure each image is the best it can be before I deliver a gallery to my couples.
Despite editing 25,000 images in that depth, you seem relaxed. How come?
I’ve been outsourcing my editing to Neurapix, and I found them to be absolutely amazing reducing my editing time by around 50%. It’s literally taking me more than half the time less to finish a complete wedding today. Using technology to slash my editing times pretty much in half has been a game changer for me.

But we all know AI is not perfect. How can you trust it?
I think there’s a bit of a misconception within the photography industry that AI will be perfect from the off, but that’s not going to be the case for a long time yet. What Neurapix does do is give you a fantastic starting point for which to go on and make your own tweaks to your images. It’s like applying a preset, but ridiculously better. It saves you a huge amount of time whilst also providing the artistic freedom to make any tweaks or subtle changes if the AI doesn’t get it quite right.
What impact does AI editing have on your business?
It has freed up countless hours of time for me to focus on the other areas of my business which have sometimes – particularly during the busier summer months – become neglected, such as my marketing and social media strategies. Ultimately, having more time available in my working week to promote my business means I’m in a strong position to secure the wedding bookings I want each year.
There are some AI editing solutions out there today. Why Neurapix?
I previously used another tool. Generally, I was happy with their product, but I much prefer Neurapix as I find it much easier to integrate into my workflow. I love the fact that it’s fully in Adobe Lightroom Classic. I also believe Neurapix is much better value in terms of the costs involved.

How long did it take you to get started?
It was incredibly simple to use the Neurapix plugin and I was up and running within just a few minutes of registering.
Does your SmartPreset evolve with you?
Over time as I tweak my edits, Neurapix will adapt accordingly providing even more consistent results. I also love that it is always learning with each batch of freshly edited images that you submit to re-train the algorithm.
Do you have any advice for your fellow photographers that are drowning in work too?
I would wholeheartedly encourage them to use Neurapix. Soon you’ll wonder how you managed your workflow without it.
