Win a Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | C Lens!
It’s day 6 of ePHOTOzine’s bumper Christmas Prize Draw and today you could win a Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | C lens!
The SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is the definitive portable standard zoom lens for L-Mount and Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, combining outstanding optical performance, an F2.8 constant aperture and a lightweight and compact body. The lens has a similar optical design to the 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, but is significantly smaller and lighter at only 56% of its weight. The lens is highly versatile and is perfect for a wide range of photographic applications, including landscapes, portraits, weddings, street, close-ups and architecture. It’s also ideal for video and light enough to be used on an electronic gimbal.
True to the Contemporary line’s core concept, the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN was developed to offer the perfect balance of performance and portability for outdoor photographers. It has been designed to deliver outstanding image quality at all focal length and apertures on a par with SIGMA’s Art line lenses. Building on state-of-the-art technology, the optic has an advanced design that includes three aspherical, two FLD, and two SLD elements. Despite using fewer elements in total than the 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | A, the design results in a thorough correction of axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma aberration, which cannot be corrected in-camera, allowing users to create images that are uniformly sharp from the centre to the edges of the frame.
The lens features a single focusing element, which keeps the AF unit small. This, along with a quiet and fast stepping motor, makes for highly responsive and near-silent autofocus performance – ideal for fast-moving subjects like children and pets.
Weighing just 470g the 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | C is extremely light for this type of lens, and when attached to the SIGMA fp L, the entire setup is only 895g (figures for L-Mount). The supreme portability afforded by a camera system that weighs less than 1kg gives photographers a huge amount of freedom and flexibility to achieve their creative vision, and makes for a perfect set-up for photographers who need to carry their kit over long distances.
The lens comes with an AF/MF switch, which has a firm but ergonomic action, and the focus and zoom rings are smooth and precise owing to SIGMA’s advanced lubricant technologies. The lens’ premium, intuitive build makes it as exciting to use the lens as it is to see the incredible images it can produce, inspiring you to start achieving your creative potential.
Sigma is now one of the very few imaging manufacturers that has kept production solely in Japan. This gives it full control over its production processes and helps it maintain the highest levels of quality control over the design, manufacture and construction of every product. Great care is taken to ensure the highest quality materials are chosen.
