The Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB is the smaller and more portable version of the VEO 3T+ 264CB we reviewed previously and with a global shift towards lighter, easier-to-carry tripods, we thought we’d see if the Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB can score just as well, or better than, the VEO 3T+ 264CB kit did.
Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB Features
The Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB is a carbon fibre travel tripod that comes paired with the Arca-compatible VEO 2 BH-110S Dual-Axis Ball Head and it also features the VEO+ MA1 so the reversible central column converts to a multi-mount making the tripod incredibly versatile and ideal for a wide variety of photography styles. You also get a monopod built-in as one of the legs converts to one giving you access to an even more portable support when needed.
Size-wise, the tripod extends to 146cm and folds away to just 46cm making it very portable. It’s lightweight, too, coming in at under 2kg. The max load capacity is 10kg.
Other features include a hook for hanging extra weight, easy clean twist leg locks, rubber/spiked feet and a tripod bag.

Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB Handling & Performance
When we reviewed the VEO 3T+ 264CB, we thought it was a little on the large side to be classed as a travel tripod but the Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB is much more compact in size and has a lightweight build which, most definitely, makes it a travel tripod. You also get all of the features from the VEO 3+ series, just in a size that makes it ideal for trips, journeys and holidays.
As we’ve come to expect from Vanguard, the tripod and head are really well made, look great and in the hand, it gives reassurance that it will be a really sturdy support. Plus, it features a hook for adding weight should you need more stability. There are also spiked as well as rubber feet so you can sink the tripod into the terrain.
The tripod legs are easy to extend and are made up of four sections which offer three working angles (23 degrees, 50 degrees and 80 degrees). The twist locks are easy to adjust and get a grip of thanks to the rubberised material they are constructed from. They’re also ‘easy clean’ which means you can remove the legs without too much of a struggle to clean them after a day at the beach. You can also remove one leg and use it as a monopod that reaches 1.5m when removed and attached to the centre column.
As the legs are reversible, it easily folds up to just 46cm so you can easily pack it in a bag when travelling or secure it to the front/side of a backpack that has a section for a tripod.
The max working height of the tripod is 146cm which is more than enough height (with the central column extended) and 122.5cm with the central column down (which gives more stability). The max load capacity is 10KG which means a variety of camera and lens combos can be used with the tripod.
A great feature of the Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB is the Multi-Angle Central Column so a low angle adaptor for macro work isn’t needed. It can also be used as a Multi-Mount when paired with the VEO+ MA1 Adaptor that’s provided so you attach accessories such as lights or mics to the support, removing the need for additional tripods to be carried. If you want to attach an additional support arm, there’s a 3/8″ thread hold on the side of the canopy.
As well as a tripod, you also get a VEO BH-110S Dual Axis Ball Head which is equally well-made and constructed. All knobs are easy to operate and secure the head in place without movement (until it’s required). The head features a pan on the base as well as a pan on the quick-release plate and it’s really easy to level the tripod using the head, without having to adjust the legs.
Overall, the Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB is another great product from Vanguard that photographers can rely on.
Value For Money
The Vanguard VEO 3T+ 234CB is priced at £319.99 on the Vanguard website and when you consider the inclusion of the ball head and Multi-mount adaptor, it’s actually really good value for money. For more options, take a look at our tripod reviews.
